THE EDITOR, Sir:

The Women's Resource and Outreach Centre joins the people of Jamaica and others across the world in acknowledging the life and work of Nelson Mandela, 'Madiba', the the father of democratic South Africa.

He sacrificed his life on the altar of the liberation struggle. His was a vision of a society where no one should be exploited. He suffered 27 years of confinement because he believed in the human rights and the dignity of Africans and all other peoples of the world. After his release, he embarked on a mission of racial reconciliation and economic rehabilitation of his beloved South Africa.

He was a man of great moral character. He was a man of great inspiration. His legacy is enduring.

May the beautiful soul of this great statesman of the world rest in peace.
