Beauty balms (BB) are the hottest trends in the beauty industry, and now Iman has added their Skin Tone Evener Complex to the market. The multifunctional moisturiser with a hint of foundation, is now from a line that caters to women of colour. To launch the product in Jamaica, Iman's creative director Byron Barnes, will be visiting the island for a special two-day workshop. He told Flair that most of the companies who have a BB Crème, do not make them with women of darker shades in mind. "They are not complementary to black women, and it gives them this ashy/grey look." Barnes explained, "We teamed up with Karuna Sabnani, a naturopathic doctor and health and beauty adviser who provided valuable insights about healthy skin needs. The IMAN Skin Tone Evener BB Crème, SPF 15 or BB Crème, was launched just over a year ago and spanned a wide variety of shades for black women. It evens the skin with Skin Tone Evener Complex enriched with acai extract, licorice and grape seed and protects with SPF 15 and antioxidants," Barnes explained.

This IMAN Skin Tone Evener BB Crème SPF 15 is a miracle in a bottle as it replaces several creams - sunscreen, primer, fade cream and moisturiser - all with just one application. "Caribbean women need to realise that their skin still needs protection from the sun. The BB Crème tightens, firms and brightens the skin and comes in various shades for women of colour." he continued. "We find that a lot of women bleach their skins and, as such, suffer from hyperpigmentation and the BB Crème is perfect and can be worn both over and under your foundation. With regular use, BB Crème helps to promote a more even complexion, healthier skin tone and texture, increased hydration and protection from sun and environmental damage. The product is versatile and we are very proud of it because it does what it says it does," he said.

one just for you

So whether you are from the Caribbean, Africa or the Mediterranean, there is something for you, as the IMAN Skin Tone Evener BB Crème SPF 15 comes in six shades - sand light, sand medium, clay medium, clay medium deep, earth medium and earth medium deep. Barnes, who is going to be in Jamaica on December 13 and 14, will set up shop at anne martin in Mall Plaza to do makeovers, tutorials, and host a question-and-answer session.

He explained that the IMAN BB Creme is best applied using your finger tips rather than a sponge. He notes that the sponge soaks up a lot of the product so the fingertips or a foundation brush are the best tools. IMAN BB Crème is formulated for all skin types including oily skin.

Barnes told Flair that while in Jamaica he will be focusing on two very important aspects of lipstick application. "I find that a lot of women don't know how to apply lipstick. Either the shade is wrong or it's too oily or too much. So I want to teach them how to apply it and use blotting paper in the process, as well, so that it looks tasteful. The eyes will be another area of his focus, since "most women don't get it right".
