Brown returns to Colorado Rapids

MONTEGO BAY, St James (CMC):

Jamaica's Deshorn Brown will return to the United States Major League Soccer (MLS) team Colorado Rapids, for the 2014 season, the club has announced.

The 22-year-old Brown was one of eight players the club exercised their options of bringing back for the new season after his outstanding rookie year.

Brown scored 10 goals, including one against Seattle Sounders after just 14 seconds into the game, then the second fastest MLS goal ever.

He was the sixth pick of the 2013 draft in January and started 24 of the 31 games he appeared in for Colorado Rapids.

Brown made his debut for the Reggae Boyz, getting a late call-up by head coach Winfried Schäfer during the latter stages of the 2014 CONCACAF World Cup campaign.

He was also part of the team that lost both games to Trinidad and Tobago in a two-game friendly series last month.

Ajax fans stabbed ahead of AC Milan match

MILAN (AP):

Three Ajax fans were taken to hospital after being stabbed in the build-up to the Dutch club's Champions League match at AC Milan yesterday, Italian media reported.

ANSA news agency said that one fan is seriously injured after being stabbed in the abdomen and was undergoing surgery, while another was wounded in the buttocks after also being attacked by Milan ultras. The third was stabbed in the thigh. All of them have been taken to different hospitals in the city.

The three incidents occurred near Milan's San Siro stadium, where there was a heavy police presence ahead of a crucial match. The fans were aged between 18 and 32.

Three more people were also injured, but not as seriously, during further trouble near the stadium.

Earlier, a group of Ajax fans clashed with protesters, while others threw bottles at shops and passers-by in various streets in the centre of Milan.
