SAN JUAN (CMC):

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency says a former Puerto Rico Police Department officer has been jailed for 25 years followed by 15 years of supervised release for production of child pornography.

ICE said that William Berr'os-Cruz's sentence resulted from an investigation by its Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Puerto Rico Crimes Against Children Task Force.

On February 24, ICE said HSI special agents received information that Berr'os-Cruz, a police officer with 33 years of service, had allegedly sexually assaulted a minor girl after slipping something into her drink.

Based on that information, ICE said HSI special agents obtained a search warrant for Berr'os-Cruz's home, seizing electronic media.
