THE EDITOR, Sir:

The management and staff of the Women's Resource and Outreach Centre (WROC) wish to use this opportunity to sincerely congratulate our students for winning top regional awards in the 2013 CXC examinations.

Diligence and commitment to excellence have made these young people excel.

It has been WROC's contention that with the appropriate support, our students are able to excel at academics, as they do in the cultural and athletics worlds.

We congratulate their teachers, their parents/guardians, and their mentors, because we know the parts that they played were extremely significant.

We strongly encourage our general school population to take inspiration from and follow the pattern of excellence of these students.

We know that given the current context in which we live, these students must have made the conscious choice to invest in the time and commitment required to achieve excellence.

Top-ranking school performance is the major step that will assist them to build, and have control over, their own lives as well as contribute to the development of their own country and the world at large.

DOROTHY WHYTE

Executive Director, WROC
