Jamaica Labour Party caretaker for Eastern Hanover, Paula Kerr-Jarrett, says National Security Minister Peter Bunting should treat his law and order portfolio just as he would his own business by making the necessary changes, and delivering on returns.
Bunting was an investment banker before entering representational politics.
She issued the remark following last week's killing of 12 persons over a seven-day period and the subsequent launching of a new anti-crime initiative, Operation Resilience II, by the police in western Jamaica.
Kerr-Jarrett said the new crime strategy should not detract from long-term and sustainable plans to reduce crime across the region.
Kerr-Jarrett said building trust would go a far way in enhancing the relationship between citizens and police, while weeding out corrupt policemen and women.
She insisted Bunting should not just talk about measures being taken but apply them so their effects could be felt.
