PM must represent us

THE EDITOR, Sir:

As I read Hero Carlito's article 'Frequent flyer PM must touch base' (Gleaner, December 18, 2013), I felt compelled to add my little piece to such a well-constructed article.

Let me reiterate that us well-thinking and sensible Jamaicans are aware that Jamaica needs to be in touch with the rest of the world. Its leaders are expected to keep in contact with foreign dignitaries and states.

However, the problem lies in the deafening silence of our PM on many issues.

The country wants to hear her voice on the slide of the local currency, inflation, plans to curb crime, and the strained relations with Trinidad and Tobago.

The PM should recognise that she is in office to represent Jamaicans, not herself.
