Christmas is in the air! From pepper lights and ornamented Christmas trees to sprucing up the house, Jamaicans take great pleasure in upholding traditions for the Christmas season. But what about adding that creative Christmas twist to your nails?

Beautiful nails can definitely add to the festive spirit and for the ladies wishing to glam up their natural nails for the holiday season without the use of 'falsies', the Flair has some snazzy suggestions just for you.

We made our way to Constant Spring and visited Skilz Beauty Hutt, where we spoke to nail technician Tanya Sutherland about the styles that are currently in trend.

Festive Colours

Amid all the holiday prepping, ladies can prim and pop their nails with cheerful colours of the season. Sutherland explained: "The colour we choose is a direct reflection of our personality, so we can either choose to take bolder steps with our nails or express a softer style." She continued, "During Christmas, I realise that women will step outside of their comfort zone and choose different colours. Some stick to their pastels, others will try a bold red, while some will rock a strong green. It all depends on the individual." Don't be afraid to dress up those naked nails with some bold reds, greens, gold or silver shades of nail polish. Now is a better time than any.

Merry Patterns

Patterned nails have been a recent phenomenon taking over the nail world by storm. For the holiday, some ladies will step up the ante by incorporating the very decorations they use within their homes on their nails. Sutherland declared, "Adding patterns to the nails is great, but I encourage women to use a little pattern on a finger or two, while keeping the rest in solid colours, because they tend to get too crowded and unappealing if most are done in patterns." So, bring those candy canes, Christmas tree, even snowflakes to life from the tip of your fingers.

Jolly Textures

Textures play a big role in designing. Nails are no different as they fall under that creative category as well. Sutherland revealed, "I love innovative designs, but for me, less says a whole lot more. A little design with something like rhinestones will take your nails to the next level and have a smashing effect. It really all depends on the person, because they may want a cute design like a little bow tie, some stripes or even polka dots."

For this Christmas season, step outside the box and choose something different and daring.
