Kudos to Tessanne's family

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Tessanne, you've always been a powerful and soul-stirring songstress and I had no doubt that you'd triumph in your 'Voice' quest.

I must use this opportunity, however, to thank you for so ably representing and promoting Brand Jamaica and more so for causing us to hear the voice of our dear Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller. Girl, you've done us proud and in doing so caused a blessing that has long evaded us.

Such a pity the only appropriate issue Prime Minister Simpson Miller could voice her comment on is Tess's ecstatic victory and its effects on Jamaica's tourist product!

Amid that, however, I must also take this opportunity to laud Tessanne's family. They have invested much in their children and all families, especially those who care too little about the success of their children, should note and emulate them. Have you ever heard that girl speak of her father? She holds him in high esteem, after all, he has believed in her and has provided the necessary support for her growth and success.

While we learn all the lessons to be learned from Tessanne's victory and bask in the glory of another episode of 'Jamaica to di worl', let's be cognizant that solid family support and structure equals ultimate success.
