New Jamaica for 2014

We often hear people talk about New Year's resolutions, or what they wish and hope for, in the new year.

Well, my New Year's wish for 2014, is to see a new Jamaica take shape. What do I mean? Despite the fact that we are all unique people, with different minds and personalities, and should not try to be another person, we can learn from the ways and attitudes of good people.

Therefore, I am saying to us, from the depths of my heart, let us imitate the late Nelson Mandela. He left behind good, unforgettable memories and lessons, and good examples for us to follow, especially in the field of humility, tolerance and endurance.

Jamaica is desperately hungry, and in great need of love and compassion. Jamaica is in a terrible mess, and on the brink of going overboard, because the vipers of intolerance, aggression, hostility and greed are like swarms of biting ants eating down a big tree, which will eventually topple over.

We need to change our focus. Let us make 2014 a better year than 2013.
