Do your research, Mr Higgins

I almost fell out of my chair when I read Orville Higgins commentary 'A salt year for local sports' in the Friday, December 27 issue of The Gleaner. In the first paragraph, Mr Higgins states: "One could be forgiven for thinking that the sporting gods deserted us for 2013".

Deserted us? How could he not mention Jamaica's champion female swimmer Alia Atkinson's magnificent performances at swimming competitions across the globe?

What about the young Jamaicans at the IAAF Youth Championships in Ukraine in July who brought home eight medals (six gold and two bronze)?

Neither did he mention Jamaica's top female cricketer Stafanie Taylor and her stellar performance against New Zealand at Sabina Park in October.

Mr Higgins, please do some research before you write and please, write right!
