The St Ann police are investigating two deaths that occurred in the parish between Monday and yesterday.

Dead are Shirley Lewis McFarlane, about 50 years old and of a Canada address, and a 16-year-old student of the Brown's Town High School, Tashique Nugent.

Reports are that the police were called to an address at Poincianna Drive in Discovery Bay around 4 p.m. on Monday, where McFarlane's body was discovered in a bedroom with what appeared to be blunt-force injuries to the face.

Superintendent in charge of St Ann, Yvonne Martin-Daley, said the blunt force appeared to have caused McFarlane's death.

"We are appealing to the public to give whatever help you can give to help solve this case," the superintendent said. "We are asking residents not to panic, the police are treating this case with utmost priority."

SCHOOLGIRL'S BODY FOUND

Meanwhile, a resident walking his dog yesterday morning, around 7:30, stumbled upon the body of the schoolgirl in the vicinity of the Addison Park Sports Complex in Brown's Town.

According to Martin-Daley, there were no signs of trauma on the body and it was still unclear how the girl died.

Nugent was last seen in the Brown's Town area around 11 o'clock Monday morning.
