THE country's leading long distance runners along with several from overseas will be on show today in the 31st staging of the High Mountain 10K road race which will get under way in Williamsfield, Manchester at 3:30 p.m. Preceding the feature event will be the 5K Run and Walk starting at 2 p.m.

Meet director, Maurice Westney expects a big turnout for the event.

"Everything is in place for the event as the course is okay and we expect a good turnout of competitors especially from a local standpoint as these athletes will be using the opportunity to prepare for next month's NACAC Cross Country Championships in Trinidad," Westney said.

The very gruelling race will start at the Williamsfield roundabout then up the Winston Jones Highway to the intersection with the Kendal main road and Kendal to Shooters Hill , past the Windalco gate to the finish line at Williamsfield.

Defending champion Andrew Brodeur who competes for the Shore Athletic Club in the United States is back to defend his title and will be hoping to better last year's winning time of 31:38.
