Mek Wi Laugh new season starts with twin fun
Tomorrow, the newly renovated Countryside Club will erupt with laughter when some of Jamaica's top comedians and musical acts take centrestage for season two of Lady Rennae's live comedy series, rebranded 'Jamaica Mek Wi Laugh'.
The newly reformatted showcase, which is staged the last Tuesday of every month, will see the best local talent delivering spine-tingling comedic routines in a more comfortable and spacious environment.
Opening the new season will be none other than the controversial, yet thought-provoking duo, Twin of Twins, alongside Leighton Smith. There will also be a performance from Demarco.
According to Lady Rennae, this season will be even more spectacular than the first.
ONLY THE BEST
"'Jamaica Mek Wi Laugh' is a premium brand, so we only go for the best. Last season was great, the support was overwhelming. A big and heartfelt thank you to all the sponsors and patrons; however, come season two, we are stepping things up another tier," she said.
"We have a more spacious venue, among other exciting offerings. I don't want to give away too much, but when last have people seen Twin of Twins doing live comedy alongside Leighton Smith and Demarco - on one night on the same stage ... all that for a mere $1,000. Now that is what we are talking about when we say 'boasy on a budget'."
Questioned as to the reason for the venue change, Lady Rennae explained that the event had outgrown its previous location.
"The Countryside Club is a more spacious environment, equipped to handle larger gatherings with several secured parking lots. Another factor that was taken into consideration was how centralised the location is, it's smack in the middle of Half-Way Tree, literally seconds away from the Transport Centre, making it easy for patrons to traverse," Lady Rennae said.
Based on feedback, Lady Rennae is urging patrons to come out early to avoid the last-minute rush. 'Jamaica Mek Wi Laugh' starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.
