Pastor of pastors - Late rector lauded at memorial service
BISHOP ROBERT Thompson, head of the Kingston Parish Church, said Bishop E. Don Taylor, former rector of the church, who died in New York on Saturday after a long battle with heart disease, will be missed by many.
"He was the pastor of pastors. The bishop was extremely well-loved, not because of his position, but because of the person he was," said Thompson.
"The bishop is the type of man who neglected himself for the sake of others," he added.
The 77-year-old, who was also a former headmaster and old boy of Kingston College, went into ministry at age 11.
The funeral will be held in New York, after which Taylor will be cremated.
The Kingston Parish Church yesterday held a memorial at the church in recognition of Taylor's outstanding work.
