Dr Marion Bullock-DuCasse, director of emergency, disaster management and special services in the Ministry of Health said yesterday that the ministry will continue with its public education and intense vector control activities, including fogging of the surrounding areas and communities where the Chikungunya virus has showed up.

The affected parishes are St Thomas, St Catherine, St Ann and Kingston and St Andrew.

The Health Ministry yesterday confirmed four more locally-transmitted cases of the Chikungunya virus, bringing to eight, the number of cases recorded in Jamaica. The first two cases involved individuals who had traveled to an affected country while the other six cases were locally-transmitted.
