Man accused of Cross Roads robbery in police custody
A man who, along with his crony, reportedly held up and robbed a prominent business place in Cross Roads and then shot a security guard is now in police custody.
Reports from the Cross Roads police are that, about 10 a.m. yesterday, two men - one armed with a firearm - entered the establishment and ordered the proprietor to hand over money and other valuables. An altercation ensued and a security guard who intervened was shot and injured. The assailants, however, managed to steal a cell phone, an undetermined amount of cash, and a gold bracelet.
The police, who were nearby, responded and accosted one of the men, as well as the stolen items. A .38 revolver was also seized during the incident. The security guard was taken to hospital and has been admitted in stable condition.
