Pollard Gonzalez connects with Verizon

Michele Pollard Gonzalez will be starting her new role as associate director of technical customer service at Verizon in Syracuse, New York, in the United States on September 15. She was previously an executive at the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) and head of customer care, call centres, customer service and mortgage services.

Pollard Gonzalez has worked with JNBS since 2002. She resigned a week ago on August 31.

Prior to that, she worked as group quality manger for ICD from 1997. Pollard Gonzalez holds a MSc in food science and technology from Texas A&M in the United States and an MBA and BSc in chemistry both from the University of the West Indies.

New chairman for Stocks & Securities

Aleef Lazarus is now chairman for Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL), replacing Hugh Croskery who remains on the board.

Lazarus is a lawyer and a consultant at Livingston, Alexander and Levy, where he was previously senior partner.

The new SSL board now comprises Lazarus, Croskery, his son Mark Croskery, who is also CEO of SSL, Gordon Langford and other new appointees, Paige Todd, John Andrews, and Dr Guyan Arscott.

Todd is financial controller for the Tank-Weld Group of Companies and is a former banker; Andrews has experience in financial markets; and Arscott is involved in the field of reconstructive surgery.

Hendriks is head man for Hyatt

Carl Hendriks was appointed general manager for the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall and Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall hotels in Montego Bay, effective September 1, 2014.

The two hotels are operated by Playa Resorts and are scheduled to open in November. The hotel company is finalising its transformation of the property, formerly operated as Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall Resort before its sale to Playa.

Hendricks has more than 30 years of experience in tourism, including general management positions at Sandals Resorts throughout the Caribbean, the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line as general manager for the Falmouth Jamaica Land Company and most recently at the Apple Leisure Group. He was educated at Miami Dade College in Florida and Cornell University in New York, and began his tourism career at Unique Vacations Inc in Miami.

Adamson chooses Mohawk

Cebert Adamson is now manager of programme quality at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He was previously the executive director of the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica.

Adamson was human relations development manager at the University of Technology from 2007 to 2009 and curriculum consultant at the University College of the Caribbean from 2006 to 2008. He holds an MSc from Nova Southeastern University based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and a BA in business education from the University of Technology in Kingston.
