Don't adjust your windscreen wipers and don't believe you need glasses. That's not your regular Gleaner vendor selling you the popular paper.

As part of its 180th anniversary celebrations, The Gleaner Company is organising a corporate street sale for Monday, September 8. On that day, members of The Gleaner Company's management team and promoters will literally sell the product across the Corporate Area.

"Four persons have been confirmed outside of the management team, but we will also have 40 young ladies promoting, issuing flyers of the various products, plus assisting outsiders and vendors at more than 20 chosen locations," said Burchell Gibson, circulation manager at The Gleaner. The sale takes place from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Gibson noted the elderly will benefit from the sale.

"All funds from these locations will be donated to four homes in Kingston, St Ann, Manchester and St James," he said.

Among the key locations, the teams will be at King's House gate, Oxford Medical, Manor Park Square, Red Hills, Papine square, the Canadian Embassy, Cross Roads, and the intersection of Mountain View Avenue and Old Hope Road.

The street sale is the latest event to mark the landmark anniversary of the Old Lady of North Street. On August 31, there was a special service at the Kingston Parish Church. On Saturday, September 13, the company will host a 5K Run starting at 6:30 a.m. Proceeds of the run will go to PALS (Peace and Love in Society) and the Physiotherapy Department of the University Hospital of the West Indies.
