MONTEGO BAY, St James:The Cornwall College Old Boys' Association will commemorate the institution's 118 years of existence with the hosting of the annual homecoming celebration slated to begin tomorrow and end on Saturday, September 13.

According to spokesman Paul Trench, the homecoming activities will cover a wide range of activities for old boys, friends and well-wishers both on and off campus.

"The aim of the homecoming celebration is to integrate Cornwallians and friends from all over the globe to contribute towards the development and improvement of the school's physical plant, as well as to assist in the educational development and training of the students," said Trench.

"We will kick things off with a dedication service of our newly built chapel on Sunday, September 7, at 10 a.m. on the school grounds, with the minister of education, Ronald Thwaites, as guest speaker. Day two, Monday, September 8, will see the commencement of Founders and Literacy Week, which will run through to Friday, September 12," Trench said.

Other scheduled activities include classroom mentorship sessions on Friday, September 12, which will see past students delivering motivational speeches to lower- and upper-school students. The Cornwall College Trust's annual general meeting will be held at noon in the school's auditorium that same day. This will be followed by a football match on the school grounds, featuring the school's Under-16 team.

At 9 p.m., the Cornwall College Linkup Team will host its Integration Party at the Aqua Sol Theme Park, which will feature performances by I-Octane, Ryme Minista, Lieutenant Elmo, Hezron, and a host of other acts.

On Saturday, September 13 at 3 p.m., Cornwall College will square off with Anchovy High School at Jarrett Park in the daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition. Cornwallians from all walks of life are expected to turn out for what will be the school's first game in the competition.
