Western Bureau:

Donjay Smith hit a hat-trick to power defending daCosta Cup champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) to a 9-0 mauling of Zone E hopefuls B.B. Coke at the Montego Bay Sports Complex yesterday.

So comprehensive was the thrashing that the B.B. Coke coaching staff handed their 14-year-old second-string goalkeeper a substitute appearance in an effort to stem the tide, but he, too, failed to stop the rampant STETHS side.

The rout began when midfielder Rushane McClymont hit the Santa Cruz-based school into an eighth-minute lead. Smith then fired his first real attempt past the B.B. Coke goalkeeper to make the score 2-0 in the 10th minute, his third goal came in the 78th minute, as STETHS showed their parish neighbours little mercy.

Smith had his second goal in the 50th minute, with Sahvin Genius (50th), Rohan Lindsay (66th), Romario Allen (77th), and a double strike from Jevaughn Brown putting a punctuation mark on proceedings.
