THE SMASHING victory of Standhope Joel's good horse, Primera, in the £10,000 Ebor Handicap run at York in August is of particular interest to racegoers in Jamaica, for Mr Joel has recently joined the Board of Directors of Knutsford Park Ltd, and has just brought to the island three horses which will soon be carrying his colours at Caymanas Park.

A pillar of the English Turf where, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Mr 'Solly' Joel, he has consistently maintained a large number of horses in training, Mr Standhope Joel's decision to participate in Jamaican racing should have far-reaching effects on the welfare of sports out here.
