An expert from telecommunications firm LIME will be the main presenter at a seminar on data protection scheduled for Montego Bay on September 24.

Michael Sutherland, LIME regional IT security officer, will be facilitating the forum titled 'Data Protection - Keeping Your Business & Client Information Confidential and Safe', being staged in collaboration with the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE). Also scheduled to address the seminar is José Castello, representing CISCO Meraki, one the world's leading providers of business networking systems, including data security.

According to Sutherland, small and medium-size businesses in Jamaica often do not pay enough attention to the area of data protection. "Large businesses tend to take the matter a lot more seriously mainly due to their need to meet audit requirements and legal requirements. However, medium and small businesses often tend not to fully appreciate the possible impact and so do not make the effort to address the threats," he pointed out.

The half-day session will provide a comprehensive look at the area and is ideal for data security managers, IT managers, website designers, and other ICT professionals.

The seminar will be held at the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort in Montego Bay starting at 8:30 a.m. Cost for participation is $10,000 to join the session in person or via webinar.
