St George's College will aim to maintain their perfect win record when they face Waterford High in Group A of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Manning Cup football competition at Winchester Park, St George's College. Match time is 3:30 p.m.

The 2012 Manning Cup champions finished the first round in the preliminary stage on maximum 12 points, ahead of neighbours Kingston College (9) and Waterford (7). José Marti (4) and Campion College, who are yet to score a point are the other teams in the group.

St George's are firmly on course for not only a spot in the next stage but also advancing to the Walker Cup Knockout as well as the inaugural ISSA/LIME Super Cup KO competition.

first meeting

In the first meeting between the teams, St George's won that encounter 1-0 and another tough battle is anticipated.

Marcel 'Fuzzy' Gayle, assistant coach of St George's, says his team will look to continue playing good football and get a positive result at home.

"They (Waterford) are a tight bunch and also spirited. We beat then in the first game at Waterford, but we won't take anything for granted," Gayle told The Gleaner yesterday.

"The aim is to continue winning as we have set sights on all titles," Gayle added.

Shevon Stewart, who is the team's leading scorer on six goals, national Under-17 midfielder Alex Marshall, Gregory Messam Jnr., Amoy Brown and goalkeeper Cordel Irvine should lead the way for St George's.

Meanwhile, Waterford's coach, Jermaine Thomas, believes his team can match St George's if they stay disciplined.

"St George's move the ball around well, so we will need to close then down early and disrupt their flow," Thomas told The Gleaner.

"In the first game, we created a number of chances but were let down by poor shooting. That is the area that is letting us down as the team is playing good football," the coach pointed out.

Waterford's bid for victory will be led by Shane Watson who has netted four of the team's six goals, as well as captain Odane Nichols, Javaughn Jones and Richard Coates.
