Round Hill rolls out luxury special for locals

Josef Forstmayr, managing director of Round Hill Hotel & Villas, says an offer of US$259 per night and incentives of additional resort credit promoted by the high-end property, is a pitch to Jamaican visitors in the low tourist season.

Locals are being invited to sample refurbished facilities at the hotel, which - now closed for annual renovation - will reopen mid-fall on November 1, ahead of the peak tourist season that kicks off annually in December.

The hotel's maintenance period runs from September 2 to October 9.

"We do provide special programmes for our esteemed Jamaican visitors as well as to add value to our many guests who opt to spend the 'shoulder' season with us at Round Hill - June to November," said Forstmayr.

Round Hill - known internationally as a haunt of the social set and celebrities - is usually considered beyond the pocket of the average vacationing Jamaican.

Its Ralph Lauren-designed oceanfront rooms and two to six-room luxury villas with private pools and a dedicated staff are now on offer for the off season.

'Fall Escape'

In its advertised 'Fall Escape', the hotel offers the rate of US$259 per night for a four-night stay and US$100 resort credit. Bookings are valid for November 1 to December 15.

The rate appears not to be all-inclusive.

"The valued-added programmes could range from complimentary breakfast to discounts at the spa and resort credits. We also highlight a unique and affordable cocktail hour with heavy hors d'oeuvres from 5 to 6 p.m. every afternoon at our beach and pool bar," said Forstmayr.

One all-inclusive 'special' package now being advertised on the hotel's website has rates starting at US$679 per night and includes breakfast, lunch and dinner, premium drinks at hotel bars, daily afternoon tea and daily shopping shuttle to Montego Bay, among other services. The minimum stay at this rate is three nights and this offer is valid from May 1 to December 16. The all-inclusive offer has blackout dates and booking deadline of November 30.

At high season, a one-night stay at Round Hill starts about US$689, but ranges up to US$8,759, not including meals and other services.

"There are minimum stay requirements for all peak holiday periods as well as premium conditions. As a matter of principle, Round Hill has employed one of Jamaica's leading revenue managers in our reservations department who is tasked to always achieve the highest possible rates for all periods throughout the year while still trying to maintain high occupancies," Forstmayr said.

During Christmas, the minimum stay is 10 nights.
