Longing to breathe fresh air, NEPA

Published:Monday | September 29, 2014 | 9:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir: I am writing from an area called Wiltshire at the border of Trelawny and St James. Our situation is that every night from about 9 o-clock a dense fog takes over the area of Flamingo, Greenwood and surrounding areas.

The fog leaves a black soot on everything and starts to cause breathing problems, coughing, headaches, nausea among other illnesses.

We would love to see the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) take corrective action against the company that is producing tar in the community of Davis Pen in Trelawny. Incidentally they only operate at nights when they know the environmental agency is closed and not in the area to do any air quality test.

The soot from the company should be controlled by means put in place by NEPA and the company.

Please let us be able to breathe the fresh air again.
