Jason Forbes family seeks independent pathologist

The family of Jason Forbes, the man who allegedly died on the floor of the Spanish Town Hospital last week, is seeking the help of an independent pathologist to oversee the post mortem.
The family has retained the services of attorney at law Alando Terrelonge.
Terrelonge told The Gleaner yesterday that he plans to file a suit for negligence on behalf of the family.
He said the action will be filed after the post mortem report is completed.
The attorney explained that the family was told that the autopsy was set for Monday but they have asked that it be put on hold.
He said the family is seeking financial help to get an independent pathologist and to bury Forbes.
He said the family reported that the 34-year-old man was on the hospital floor for 14 hours crying for his stomach.
The attorney said family members reported that up to the time of his death he did not receive any medical treatment.
"This is tantamount to complete disregard for human life and the dignity of the young man," said Terrelonge.
He further said it took the death of yet another Jamaican for the authorities to review the accident and emergency policies at the hospital.
"The people are crying out for justice and help and the family is calling for the health minister to overhaul the entire health sector so that others don't have to go through what they went through in relation to the death of their loved one."
