Ban visitors from Ebola-hit countries

THE EDITOR, Sir: I am positive that, based on Jamaica's track record, we do not have the capability to either identify an Ebola-infected individual who enters our ports or to control the spread of the disease once it has entered Jamaica. I doubt that anyone will dispute this statement.

That being the case, we must insist that the Government immediately issue instructions prohibiting entry at our ports to anyone who has travelled, within the previous 30 days, to any of the countries that have the disease.

This is a simple rule that will go a long way in protecting us, and I am sure will have the full backing of our population. Why wouldn't we want to do something so simple but so effective?
