Don't grant JPS rate hike
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR), you are aware of the fact that bill-paying customers are also paying for those who steal the service from the light and power company, so it's totally unfair for such a company to be granted an increase at this time.
As far as I see, the Jamaica Public Service Company needs to repay me all that I have paid for the power thieves before my bill is increased. This is only fair.
OUR, think about it. Other companies could very well do us the same because of theft. How would we then fare? I am sure that there are persons now without electricity who, in the past, were paying for those who steal. So they paid for those who stole and now they themselves are without.
Are you saying if and when they are able to barely find the amount owing and the reconnection fee plus GCT, at the expense of their children's bread, they will be faced with an increase? Do better than that.
