WICB lacks quality leadership
THE EDITOR, Sir: W. Dave Cameron was vice-president of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) from 2007-2013 under Julian Hunte's presidency. The Hunte administration was outstanding for its failure of leadership, and yet the vice-president from the administration was appointed the new president. What deluded membership thinks there would have been something different about the Cameron administration? My answer: Nothing.
The WICB had three eminent Caribbean persons review cricket's structure seven years ago and they told us that the board does not have the capacity to run West Indies cricket. No alteration has been made since, and we all ask the rhetorical question, "Why are we here?"
I urge the membership of the WICB to use this opportunity to reform themselves, implement the 2007 committee report and introduce quality leadership into the organisation. What the players did has shown up the gross incompetence and lack of leadership in the WICB. Everything else is peripheral.
