Punish West Indies players
THE EDITOR, Sir: I agree with Jackie Hendricks that tough sanctions should be given to all players who participated in the ill-tempered tour in India. Some should be banned from the sport for a considerable length of time. They have done a disservice to world cricket and should get the blame for the stance India has taken for future tours of the West Indies.
Professionalism was missing from the players and there were other ways of resolving this impasse. We are definitely tired of the hypocrisy and it is time for us to bury the ill-will.
The West Indies cricketers betrayed the Indian cricket board, the people who feed them. They should be banned from the Indian Premier League. The players have undermined a cricket-crazy people.
The Indians have sponsored many areas of our life, including the lights of Sabina Park. We need to show the players how displeased we are with their inappropriate and ill-timed actions.
