Too quick on the draw, Dr Lowe?
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I see that Dr Henry Lowe is off and running with an extensive line of new medical ganja products.
I am left to wonder how much research and testing would have been done to test the efficacy of these products prior to the fanfare of this launch. I am hoping that Dr Lowe, as 'chief scientist for both the manufacturing and clinical trials', will be forthcoming in this regard and make public the testing methods employed and the period over which these were done, so as to address any doubt which some persons may harbour; as these products seem to be coming to market in record time.
I am particularly concerned about the sublingual and oromucosal preparations which are essentially being ingested, and, therefore, pose more of a health risk than the various creams and oils which, while they may not help, should also not harm.
In any event, it is to be hoped that the Ministry of Health will fulfil its regulatory responsibility in seeking the evidence that these products were subjected to accepted testing protocols for both their efficacy and safety before making them available to the general public.
By the way, are all these products derived from Jamaican ganja?
