The Gleaner's Orville 'Clarkie' Clarke and The Jamaica Observer's Michael O'Connor have won separate bi-monthly prizes in the Caymanas Track Limited (CTP) Tipsters' competition for the September/October period.

Clarke won the wagering section of the competition to win a grand total of $40,000, inclusive of a $20,000 carryover from the previous bi-monthly period when no tipster managed to finish with a plus quantity.

This time around, Clarke finished with a plus $761.00, ahead of O'Connor with plus $628.16. Both were the only tipsters to finish in the black.

O'Connor, meanwhile, outfinished 'Clarkie' 57 to 54 to capture the winners' section, after both were engaged in a close contest over the last three weeks. O'Connor gained the ascendancy after spotting eight winners on the October 11 10-race programme.

With less than two months remaining in the competition, Clarkie is an overwhelming favourite to capture the $130,000 prize for the most wins. He holds a commanding lead over closest rival Howard Abrahams (IRIE-FM), finishing last Saturday with 238 winners, with Abrahams on 226.

Abrahams, in turn, is clear of Francisco 'Linky' Mills (Cable Sport Network) in third, with 213 wins.

In the overall wagering category, none of the 14 media tipsters enjoy a plus quantity at this stage.
