Scotiabank Portmore had me smiling all day
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I was in a large group waiting eagerly outside for the doors of Scotia Portmore to open. As the crowd began to count down the minutes, I saw staff on the inside of the branch forming two lines at the entrance of the doorway.
I wondered what was going on, but I disregarded it because of the urgency of my grouse.
The doors swung open promptly at 8:30 a.m. and, with hands outstretched and genuine smiles, the staff, standing along both sides of the door, enthusiastically greeted all the early patrons as they jostled through the entrance saying, "Welcome to Scotia. Have a great day."
Most of the crowd was in a race, focusing on getting an early space in the line, but I was startled. Do they greet customers every morning? I stopped, smiled back, and shook a hand and said, "Thank you". It was a great start to my otherwise hectic morning.
Still high on pleasantries, I forgot to tell the clerk in the Personal Banking section the reason for my presence. I went ahead to tell her that the welcome gave me joy. I just couldn't stop smiling. I smiled all the way to work that morning. Now that is great customer service!
Keep up the good work, Scotiabank Portmore.
