Scrutinise care at golden-age homes
A few years ago, I placed my 92-year-old mother in a seniors' home in May Pen, Clarendon. Last October, I went to visit, and my mother's mouth was all broken up. In October, she had to be admitted to May Pen Hospital for a broken hip.
I do pay quite a bit of money for these people to take care of my mother, and all they can say is that she fell off the bed.
Now my mother is anaemic, among other problems that she endures. My mother was beaten by another resident who is not of sound mind. How can you have someone just running loose who doesn't have a sound mind?
While my mother was in the hospital, they still wanted me to pay them. When I refused to pay, they packed up my mother's belongings and said I should come and pick them up.
I want to expose such seniors' homes. The Government needs to better oversee these homes. Stop taking money to approve these homes; they need to be closed down.
