Privy Council not even 200 yet

Published:Wednesday | November 19, 2014 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (JCPC) was established in 1833 by the Judicial Committee Act after the passage of the Privy Council Appeals Act of 1832, which means it will be 200 years old in 2033. Therefore, the JCPC is NOT nearly 300 years, as Sunday's editorial, 'Embrace the CCJ', asserted.
