A policeman is among three persons who are now in custody after an incident in St Elizabeth yesterday that left a woman dead and a man hospitalised.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), which is probing the incident, said Kerry-Ann Powell died after persons who invaded her Horizon Park home in St Elizabeth doused her and a man identified as O'brien Sinclair with an insecticide.

Sources close to the probe revealed last night that Sinclair is expected to make a full recovery and has already given investigators a statement.

INDECOM also revealed that the Victim Support Unit and the Child Development Agency have been called in as residents reported that Powell's children were found wandering the streets shortly after the incident.

The oversight body revealed, in a statement, that Powell and Sinclair were at home when, sometime before dawn, three persons including the policeman entered the house armed with the poisonous substance, later identified as "Lannate", that was used to douse them.
