The good side of getting ticketed
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I must express my profound appreciation to a Corporal X (highway patrol - Portmore leg) for his display of commitment to curbing the practice of speeding, which has resulted in countless road fatalities both here and abroad.
Not only did he stick to his job description, he provided me with a constant reminder to check my speed limit, a practice that could save the lives of others as well as my very own.
No plea on my part was entertained, and when I expressed an urgency in getting to my destination, he responded by saying, "Since you are in a hurry to get to your function, I will hurry up and write the ticket." Huh?
I have a fine of J$5,000 to pay, and as much as I feel hurt to be forced to finance the frivolous spending of this fiscally handicapped Government, I am sure the pain is a constant reminder to adhere to the recommended speed limit and contribute to the reduction in road accidents and fatalities.
It hurts to say 'thank you', but it's my Christmas gift to you!
