I've seen no incentive from JPS
McPherse Thompson's article in the November 23, 2014 edition of The Sunday Gleaner is of major interest to me, as my bill is paid in full and on time, BUT I do not receive any incentive from the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS).
Some time ago, the JPS had a 'go green project' in which customers were given the option to decide the date for their billing and by what means they would receive same.
My family decided that the 28th monthly would be best for us, and notification by email the best means. Sometimes payment would be rounded off to the nearest dollar, with the next bill showing a credit on same. It was NEVER paid less than the due amount.
Recently, hearing about the $250 incentive being paid to customers for full and on-time payment, I called the company about not being a beneficiary of same although fulfilling the criteria.
I was then informed that because I was part of the go-green project, I could NOT benefit from the incentive. My next question was if, at that time, I was informed that having taken part in that programme, I would be ineligible for ANY OTHER initiative the company may undertake.
The customer service rep with whom I spoke replied in the negative, but still insisted that she could not do anything about it.
I feel that I am being unfairly treated and penalised by the company, while it reaps all the benefits.
As a government pensioner, my pension SHOULD reach my account on or by the 25th of every month. However, I cannot spend a cent, UNTIL I check to ensure that the deposit was made, hence my option of payment on the 28th.
Furthermore, I am SAVING the JPS money by opting to receive my bill via email. This also saves trees and helps the environment.
It would be interesting to hear the JPS respond.
