Lasco to distribute rum, Unilever products

Lasco Distributors Limited will distribute Unilever's consumer products locally, snatching up business that was previously handled by Wisynco Group.

The company also disclosed this week that it is also entering the rum distribution market through a partnership with National Rums of Jamaica to distribute its Monymusk Plantation Rums.

Lasco has a "non-exclusive" distribution partnership with Unilever Caribe S.A., effective November 20, for brands such as Lipton, Red Rose, Blue Band, Breyers, Helmans and Ben & Jerry's ice cream, among others.

Lasco Distributors currently manages 3,000 local and international consumer and pharmaceutical brands.

Unilever has more than 400 brands, 14 of which generate sales in excess of €1 billion a year.

Lasco's new rum partner, National Rums, is mainly a producer of raw rum, but the company began bottling its own brand, Monymusk, through subsidiary Clarendon Distillery Limited several years ago.

The portfolio includes Monymusk Classic Gold, Monymusk Special Gold, and Monymusk Overproof White Rum.
