Onika Miller had no excuse

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The prime minister said she has asked the National Housing Trust to submit regular reports to her office on its operations. However, as revealed in the press, a representative of the Office of the Prime Minister, Sonia Hyman, sits on the board.

Surely, it is the responsibility of Mrs Hyman to make regular reports to her permanent secretary who would then brief the prime minister on major developments? The permanent secretary, Onika Miller, should not be in a position to deny knowledge of the board's decisions.
