Witness reports massive wage loss after being shot during incursion
A FORMER Tivoli Gardens resident has testified that he lost approximately $300,000 in salary after he was shot in the arm during the 2010 police-military operations in the west Kingston community.
George Harriott told the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry, being held at the Jamaica Conference Centre in downtown Kingston, that he was shot as he was about to re-enter his home on May 25, 2010.
Hospitalised for 25 days
Harriott said as a result of his injuries, he was hospitalised for 25 days between May and November and had to undergo surgery.
Noting that his hand is still not completely healed, the former Tivoli Gardens resident said he has another surgical procedure to undergo.
The delivery driver said this has resulted in lost wages totalling approximately $300,000.
He conceded that he did not see who shot him, although he saw soldiers on the roof of a building in Tivoli Gardens.
