Police say teen found dead in Ewarton was gang raped
POLICE INVESTIGATORS believe the 17-year-old girl, whose body was found in bushes in Ewarton, St Catherine, on Tuesday, with her throat slashed, was also gang-raped and that a close friend played a role in the deadly attack.
Law-enforcement sources revealed yesterday that police investigators were piecing together details of the gruesome crime after one suspect was taken into custody and has been cooperating with detectives.
According to one investigator, Cleo-Lisan Griffiths celebrated her 17th birthday on Tuesday and agreed to have sex with someone she knew that evening.
The investigator said after they were finished, the friend called three other men to take turns having sex with the teen. She reportedly refused and the investigator said this infuriated the men.
"One of them stabbed her when she began putting up resistance. They then took her to an unfinished house nearby and raped her, before stabbing her several times in the abdomen and arms, and then slashed her throat," the investigator revealed.
They reportedly took the body several metres before dumping it in a wooded area in Ewarton where a farmer discovered it.
According to the official police report, Griffiths' body was found in bushes in the community of Charlton Meadows, with multiple stab wounds and her throat slashed.
