A Golden New Year

It was simply a spectacular way to welcome 2015. If nothing more, the magnificent fireworks display on the beach made it a golden moment as revellers ended 2014 with a bang at Chris Blackwell's GoldenEye in Oracabessa, St Mary.

But there was more. Patrons, including guests at GoldenEye and other resorts who came just for the party, and a large turnout of Jamaicans, were invited by DJ Mario C to take part in the tradition of lighting a lantern and making a wish. It was for good luck, he said.

Most persons took up the offer, dotting the night's sky with a mesmerising light pattern that was only outdone by the fireworks.

Guests were offered a glass of champagne upon arrival and the party event began with dinner - a buffet of tantalising treats displayed on the pool deck at the Bizot Bar.

Those who came later just for the party, joined in the fun and at an hour before midnight. When the DJ shouted: "Are you ready for 2015? Put your hands in the air!" the response was overwhelming.

As the hour approached,
patrons drifted to the pool deck in anticipation of the countdown, while
rocking to dance selections.

At midnight, a release
of balloons preceded the fireworks display which lasted around seven
minutes.

Guest selector DJ Vashti took over from DJ
Mario C at the turn of the year and kept the party vibes
going.

Several celebrities were in the house but the
Island Outpost general manager said the photos would tell the
tale.

He admitted that "we have a number of
celebrities from film, artistes, music producers, movie producers, a
whole variety of important executives. We have a great mix of colourful
people overall."

In the end, it was more than just a
party to ring in the New Year, it was a party to cap off a good year for
GoldenEye.
