What better way to celebrate any great occasion than by doing so with family and friends, having some good old-fashioned fun over scrumptious food?
2014 was the year of heavenly delights, whether home-made, fast food, gourmet or everything in-between. And with the mission set to tantalise and entice your taste buds, you really didn't have to be a diehard 'foodie' to enjoy our Food pages.
Blazing trails in all things savoury and sweet were new and exciting restaurants, delectable events designed to bring out the food lover within you, our newly introduced Sweet Treat Corner and Jason Clarke's refreshing Raise Your Glass feature, among many others. Here are the highlights:
1. Candy craze
It was sheer candy crush as many jumped on the candy craze train. Food stopped by for the inside scoop of their many sweet offerings.
Remember those sweet sensations we all once enjoyed at children? Well, Kiskos made a big comeback (by popular demand) this year and the students at Vaz Preparatory School were all too pleased to be the first to sample the old favourite.
3. 'Sweet Treat Corner'
This series explored several aspiring chefs who took great pleasure in making sweet desserts, baked to perfection with love.
4. BBQ edition
The BBQ edition of Food was a big hit, and provided useful tips for all who had plans to heat things up among friends and family for the sizzling summer season.
5. Fine chefs on show
The third annual Chefs on Show fundraiser, held in April hosted by the Culinary Federation of Jamaica, prides itself on displaying the work of master chefs at their best. And they did not disappoint in attracting and satisfying food aficionados from near and far.
6. Patois on the palate - El Greco's executive chef uses local dialect to tantalise taste buds
The Jamaican dialect meets the kitchen and the birth of authentically Jamaican dishes had never tasted so good, courtesy of El Greco.
7. Kaluga Kafe brings exciting flavour to Old Harbour
Kaluga Kafe and Old Harbour were a match made in foodie heaven, and Food just had to pay them a visit to find out what makes their customers keep coming back for more.
GraceKennedy relaunched the healthy product as an initiative to 'clean up' our everyday foods with this product.
9. Blue Window
The Jamaica Pegasus closed their culinary doors for renovations and reopened with a new restaurant, Blue Window, last year. Food was on the scene to get a sneak peek of their delectable menu.
10. Raise your glass
A wine enthusiast gave his spin on the wide wine selections available in Jamaica, focusing on which wines match respective tastebuds, food pairings, among other matters pertaining to the subject.
