Pearnel Charles not ready to quit
Veteran politician Pearnel Charles says he has no intention of setting a timetable for his departure from politics.
Charles, 79, said age isn't a requisite for political representation.
"When my mind and muscle can't coordinate, and I am tired, I will ask the people to relieve me of the job. But if tomorrow morning they say to me, 'Mr Charles, we find a more efficient person', I will go and tell them thanks for making me an MP for six terms - two terms in the Senate and two terms in the KSAC (Kingston and St Andrew Corporation)," Charles said.
The North Central Clarendon MP further said, "I believe there needs to be a mix of youth and experience. You can't have people coming up to retirement and nobody is prepared.
"You can't just take people and say, 'You don't have the experience, but go and do it'."
