Tuesday night was a night to celebrate Marcus Steele's great accomplishment of being named Jamaica's top CEO by Business Suite Magazine for 2014.
Carreras Limited celebrated this milestone for Steele in fine style in newly opened @twentythree, at the J. Wray and Nephew Ltd in New Kingston. Government officials and fellow businessmen and women came out to celebrate this great accomplishment with him. Ian Forbes, managing director of Sherwin Williams; Kelly Tomblin, president and CEO of Jamaica Public Service Company Limited; and Ian Boyne, popularly known for Profile on TVJ, all gave speeches about Steele.
Forbes felt privileged to not only be acquainted with Steele as an adult, but to have known him from his teenage years while attending St Jago. He also made mention of Steele's hard work, and that was something that was mirrored in the speech of all three speakers.
Boyne specifically hailed Steele on his accomplishments irrespective of his circumstances and complimented him for showing individuals that they can accomplish anything despite their background.
He was given tokens by Carreras Limited and J. Wray and Nephew Limited for his accomplishments, but not before he gave his heartwarming thank yous and crediting his accomplishments to making the right choices.
"We have talent from the inner city. It is a choice that you make," said Steele. He went on to say that this is only the beginning for him. He admitted however that he could not have made his speech without thanking his mentor, Michael Bernard.
The night closed fine wine, dining and mingling with the man of 'Steele'.
