The 2015 Netball Jamaica (NJ)/Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) Shine Open League begins today at the Leila Robinson Courts.
The event will get under way with a colourful opening ceremony and dress parade starting at 1 p.m.
Seventy-two teams are down to participate in this year's champion-ships with Waterhouse Eagles, Harbour View Police Netball Club, Tryall Heights Sports Club and Wolmer's Netball Club, the new comers.
The University of the West Indies Pelicans are the defending champions.
"This is the start of Jamaica's development programme. It covers people who are playing for fun and it covers young players who are aspiring to become Sunshine Girls," Netball Jamaica's president Marva Bernard said.
She added that spectators who attend the matches, can expect lots of prizes and surprises on match days as the organisers and sponsors have come up with several innovations to make the league exciting for the fans.
