ArtFlow Studio for Android

ArtFlow was listed in the top 10 art-related applications at the end of 2014, because not only is it free but comes with a multitude of features for aspiring modern digital artists. If you don't have the talent to draw, paint or manoeuvring graphic work, no worries, ArtFlow will teach you. The ArtFlow app has over 70 brushes that stylus (e.g., Samsung's S pen) users will be able to enjoy at maximum level with easy imitation of an actual paintbrush in hand. Canvases can also be created at up to 4096 x 4096 pixels, depending on the memory or storage space available for the Android phone.

Glitché for Apple (iPhone)

The Glitché is for Apple art lovers. The application is almost two years old but still has the youthful allure. It is not the typical photo-editing app, Glitché has numerous interactive filters that make simple images appear like sculptures, painted pieces or even digital masterpieces. The app received an update and the newest version 1.98.5 has new effects, layers, masks and integrated emojis. Time to hashtag #Glitché as you edit and post your creations on social media.

Fresh Paint for Windows

Fresh Paint is a free Windows app that can be synchronised with a Windows computer and phone. The digital artwork creator includes simulated oil and watercolours, pencil tools, as well as the option to choose from a selection of brushes. The app is child-friendly, so that aspiring artists even at the age of 10 can turn photos into amazing creations. The user also has the option to mix paints then paint and 'dry' the digital canvas by clicking on the fan icon. Fresh Paint takes up about 102MB and may require additional memory (SD card, etc).
