At Maggi, January is Soup Month, and Jamaicans will get the opportunity to sample special easy-to-make nourishing soups and dishes with promotional activities set for locations in the Corporate Area.

According to Wendy Robertson, consumer marketing manager, the campaign is geared towards easy and economical ways of food preparation using soup, which is a staple in most Jamaican homes. However, she said the shift is to get persons interested in preparing soup during the week on a Wednesday and not just on a Saturday as is the Jamaican tradition.
"This is a tall order as Jamaicans are accustomed to having soup on a Saturday. However, this is a long-term campaign and we have begun to get the discussions going. Soup is good food, served in the home, in restaurants and the cookshops across the island. We just want persons to prepare it more in the home and to develop a palate for it using Maggi products which they have been doing over the years," Robertson said.
Ian Morgan, a certified chef who attended one of the road shows held recently in Cross Roads, said Maggi products add great flavour to any kind of dish. "It is great to add to red peas soup. It makes the soup nice and flavourful. The powder seasonings are also good to add to any kind of meat and even when you are steaming fish," Morgan said.
In 1872, founder Julius Maggi launched his brand in Chalm, Switzerland, to bring nutritious instant soups to time-strapped worker families. Maggi quickly became known as a pioneer in food innovation. Since then, cooks across the globe have turned to the company's sauces, bouillon cubes, and condiments to produce healthy, high-quality dishes under even the most challenging conditions. Other scheduled mobile sessions will be on Wednesday, January 21, Mandela Highway; Wednesday, January 28 in Half-Way Tree and the much-anticipated Maggi Farmers' Market in New Kingston on January 30.
